Magnolia Shutters are finished using 3 coats of primer (undercoat) that has been custom formulated by our supplier's chemical lab so that it's elasticity is great enough to resist cracking should the wood expand. The primer contains a penetrating solution which allows the first layer to penetrate the wood grain mechanically attaching the primer and wood. After the primer coat is applied the shutter is hand sanded until it is completely smooth.

The shutter then goes to the finishing booth where it is multi-coated with a specially formulated lacquer which has a coefficient of expansion equal to the primer coat. This detail prevents the paint from peeling away from the primer during humidity and sudden temperature changes

These processes give Magnolia Plantation Shutters a beautiful, durable furniture grade finish.
